Nick has a long history of creating original theatre works with a strong visual style. He was co-founder of the pioneering physical theatre company Dramadillo, which toured extensively both nationally and internationally in the 1980s. Dramadillo performed to acclaim at the festivals of Edinburgh, Adelaide and Vancouver. His solo show Alter Eggo opened Auckland's Herald theatre in 1991.
In the 1990s Nick designed and made bird whirligigs and wind sculptures as Moazark in Martinborough.

In the last 5 years Nick has acted in numerous shows at Circa and Downstage, the International Festival (The Underwater Melon Man) and Indian Ink (The Pickle King). He devised The Golden Holden for the Christchurch Festival and the New Zealand International Arts Festival, and directed Black Comedy at Downstage (Listener's best director for Wellington 2002). In 2005 his work for television includes motion capture performance for Weta Production's groundbreaking animated series Jane and the Dragon and playing Charles Killian in TVNZ's The Killian Curse. Nick's diverse training includes: Diploma of Fine Arts in Painting and Stage Design at Ilam, acrobatics and trapeze at the National Circus School of France, mask carving in Bali and puppetry with Philippe Genty.
